World Collage Day, May 12, 2018

The first ever World Collage Day will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018. You know that’s right up my alley!

Uncommon ART will have artists doing collage demos and a make-and-take project for visitors. The Learned Owl Book Store will host Gretchen Bierbaum signing copies of her book, Collage in All Dimensions. Gretchen, as you may know, is President and Founder of The National Collage Society.

Activities at Uncommon ART will run from 11am-3pm. The book signing will take place from 11am-1pm.

Come join in the fun!

Kolaj Magazine, an international publication dedicated to the art of contemporary collage, is organizing the event.

Collage in the 2 1/2 Dimension

I've signed up for a collage workshop with Gretchen Bierbaum on Saturday, Oct. 27. Gretchen is the founder and president of the National Collage Society, so who better to learn from?

We'll be doing a small postcard-sized piece in the morning, and something larger in the afternoon. Look for the results right here early next week.

I'm so excited about this -- I signed right up as soon as I heard about it. I've dabbled with collages but don't really know much about them. I'm anxious to learn about materials and techniques -- and get in there and start putting things together.

According to Gretchen, "Collage was the only new well defined visual art medium of the Twentieth century".
