Painting Workshop, Day 1

I'm taking a mixed media painting workshop with Paul St. Denis this week. Yesterday we poured acrylic paint, which was big fun. It's an interesting process. With each one, I would think, "Well, that looks dumb. Everyone else's looks better." But by the time the colors dried, they mellowed and blended, so I ended up with some nice pours at the end of the day. They all need some finishing work, but they're off to a good start.

Today, we will be using powdered dyes. Haven't a clue what that will be like, except that he said it would be messy. Actually, he used the words "dye" and "explode" in the same sentence. Hm...

Here are some photos from yesterday:

Hi Joy - the workshop is at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center. Very cool place - first time I've been there. Will definitely have to go back.
